The United Transportation Union is the only Organization permitted to represent trainmen and switchmen on Union Pacific territory under the jurisdiction of this committee. In addition, this committee is permitted to represent all engine service employees on the Union Pacific territory under its jurisdiction.  In matters relating to time claims and grievances for trainmen and switchmen, all handling with the Union Pacific must be processed through the offices of the UTU. In matters relating to discipline, a trainman or switchman must be represented at the hearing by either a UTU Local Chairperson or a designee of the UTU Local Chairperson.
